School may have just ended but it’s time for the Sacramento Children's Home annual SCH Fill-A-Backpack Drive!
At the Home, it's known that a bright future begins with a good education. Unfortunately, many of the children served by the Home lack resources for proper supplies. For children in need, something as simple as a new backpack can boost their confidence and self-esteem, and set them on a path to success.
Donating a filled backpack is an easy way to get involved and support the Sacramento Children’s Home! Last year, more than 600 filled backpacks were collected, but this year’s need is even greater—hoping for 750 filled backpacks!
The Home especially needs the following for boys and girls of all ages: • Filled backpacks (please no red or blue) • Notebooks and composition books • Folders • Binders • Paper (college and wide ruled) • Pens • #2 Pencils • Highlighters • Crayons • Markers • Colored Pencils • Glue and Glue Sticks • Pencil boxes and pouches • Calculators (regular and scientific) • Rulers • Protractors
If you’d like to participate, it’s as simple as sharing this information with colleagues, friends, and family and bringing your donations to the Sacramento Children’s Home. This could also be a rewarding project for a school-age family member or friend to undertake this summer, knowing they are helping a child in need. Your backpack does not need to include every single item, but please aim for a filled backpack. They are easier to sort, transport, and pass out.
