Casa Garden invites you to join us on November 10, at 11:30 a.m., for a journey into the world of the “cozy” mystery, considered to be a “fun read that engages the mind.” Think of Jessica Fletcher in the series Murder, She Wrote: a woman who’s an amateur sleuth, intuitive, bright, and oh, so curious, who just happens upon a crime and is drawn in... Our protagonist might be a writer, the owner of a B&B, a quilter, gardener, cat fancier — and always from a small town where she’s known and liked. Gentle, with no graphic violence or profanity, these mysteries have romance, intrigue, and generally favor “brains over brawn.”
Our speaker, Catriona McPherson, earned her Ph.D. in linguistics from Edinburgh University in Scotland. Before venturing into writing, she says her “proper jobs” included banking (hopeless), library work in local studies and fine art (marvelous), and a short burst in academia (miserable). Now a fulltime writer she hopes never to have a “proper job” again. Well acquainted with "cozies" having written 18 of them, Catriona will share her fascination and fun with the genre.
This fascinating journey begins at 11:30 a.m. with a delicious lunch of Spinach Ravioli with Sausage Ragù served with a Chef’s Choice Salad, or Carne Asada Taco Salad, and then topped by a slice of Casa Garden’s famous Pumpkin Almond Squares. The cost is $24 per person, and includes your lunch, a beverage, tax, and gratuity. Your food selection and pre-payment is required; tables may be reserved for parties of six or more with one form of payment for the group.
We look forward to seeing you on November 10!
